Internet data package grants
The Internet data package grant is being provided to eligible on-campus local and international students whose studies have been impacted by the move to online study in response to COVID-19.
The Internet data package grant consists of a new data SIM and 50GB shared data per month for the next 6 months.
Courses eligible
Available to:
- Higher Education postgraduate degree,
- undergraduate degree,
- associate degree, or Unilink students
- Vocational Education (VE) students studying any on-campus Government-subsidised VE course at Swinburne.
This is available only to students studying on-campus, and students must be currently enrolled in units that would have been delivered on-campus in the current teaching period.
Eligibility / selection criteria
To be eligible, you must meet all the following criteria:
Domestic students (Australian citizen, permanent resident, permanent humanitarian visa holder, New Zealand citizen)
- On-campus student
- Enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree, associate degree or UniLink level course, or Government subsidised Vocational Education course at Swinburne;
- Enrolled full-time, and actively studying in the current semester;
- From a low socio-economic background (e.g. you or your parents are in receipt of or eligible for Centrelink payments);
- Your studies have been impacted adversely by the COVID-19 pandemic.
International students (Bridging Visa E V050 holder, Temporary Protection Visa V785 holder, Safe Haven Enterprise Visa V790 holder, International Student Onshore Visa Sub Class 500 holder);
- on-campus student
- enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree or Vocational Education VE course at Swinburne University;
- enrolled full-time, and actively studying in the current semester;
- your studies have been impacted adversely by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Note: Exceptional circumstances for part-time students will be considered.
Please note: these data packages are supplied by Telstra in the form of a SIM card with 50 GB of data available per month for the next 6 months and is for the specific purpose of supporting you with your studies.
If you are with a different internet service provider, you will be responsible for any disconnection and re-connection costs.
These grants are funded by the Australian Government’s Higher Education Participation and Partnership Program and funds from Swinburne University.
Value
A limited number of grants are available, each worth approximately $240.
