Claire Sorati Scholarship for Women 2026
The Claire Sorati Scholarship for Women, established by the Claire Sorati Foundation, in honour of the late Claire Sorati, a distinguished alumna of Swinburne University. Claire had a successful career as a senior IT executive. Beyond her professional achievements, she was deeply committed to education and gender equality, particularly in supporting women pursuing careers in STEM.
The Claire Sorati Scholarship for Women aims to support female students from government high schools to undertake tertiary education in Science, Engineering or Information and Communication Technologies.
This scholarship is valued at up to $40,000, with $10,000 paid annually for up to four years.

Undergraduate degree offered by Swinburne University of Technology in the School of Science, Computing and Emerging Technologies in the following disciplines:
- Science
- Engineering
- Information and Communication Technologies
Eligibility / selection criteria
To be eligible for the Claire Sorati Scholarship for Women, applicants must:
- Meet the following criteria:
- identify as female
- Australian citizen, or Australian Permanent Resident
- Meet the following enrolment criteria:
- be a commencing first year Swinburne student in Semester 1, 2026
- enrolled full-time in an eligible course (see courses eligible in section above)
- studying on-campus
- Attended a government secondary school prior to commencing at Swinburne.
- Provide ATAR certificate or academic transcript of previous study
- For current Year 12 students: You don’t need to wait until you have received your ATAR to apply. Once you have received your ATAR, please send through a copy of your ATAR certificate to scholarship@swin.edu.au to complete your application.
- Submit a personal Statement of 500 words or less addressing:
- educational disadvantage
- commitment to study, including sound academic ability, career aspirations and a strong potential to complete the degree within minimum time
- how the scholarship will help you succeed
- Please provide evidence of educational disadvantage, which may fall under the categories listed below. To assist you, we’ve included a link to the VTAC website for further guidance on preparing your evidence.

Difficult family and life circumstances
- Please provide a written reference from a teacher, community leader, or employer.
Note: referees cannot be a family member or friend.
Value
The scholarship is valued at $10,000 a year for up to four years, paid bi-annually after census date.
How to apply
Applicants should complete an online application form and submit with all supporting documentation. Applications close 15 March 2026.
