Australia Awards Scholarships

Applications are open   International students   Future students

Australia Awards Scholarships are prestigious international scholarships funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

These awards support individuals from eligible countries to undertake full-time TAFE, undergraduate or postgraduate study at participating Australian institutions. Swinburne has been proudly involved in the Australia Awards scholarship program for over 20 years.

At Swinburne University of Technology, Australia Awards scholars benefit from a vibrant academic environment, industry-connected learning, and personalised support services that empower them to become leaders of change in their home countries. The scholarships aim to foster enduring people-to-people links and contribute to the development priorities of partner nations through education, capacity building, and knowledge exchange.

Eligibility and Conditions

In addition to country-specific eligibility requirements, applicants must meet general eligibility requirements including age and citizenship requirements, program and study area criteria, and all general entry and English requirements set forth by the University for the selection destination degree. Full eligibility details can be found in the Australia Awards Scholarship Handbook

Applicants who wish to join the Australia Awards Scholarship program will need to sign a contract with the Commonwealth of Australia declaring that they will comply with the conditions of the scholarship.

Upon completion of studies, awardees are required to return to their home country for at least 2 years (unless alternative arrangements approved by DFAT for a short-term visit ie. professional opportunities). Failure to do so will result in the awardee incurring a debt for the total accrued cost of their scholarship.
