Asylum Seekers and Refugees
We welcome asylum seekers and refugees to study at Swinburne. In fact, we offer Swinburne Welcome Scholarships specifically to help you start your journey with us.
The best way to apply to study at Swinburne is by visiting us on campus. We can talk through the options available to you and assist you in submitting your application.
You may be eligible for the initiatives below if you are on a:
- Bridging Visa E (BVE) (V050)
- Temporary Protection Visa (TPV) (V785)
- Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (SHEV) (V790)
If you hold one of the visas above and are applying for a Certificate I to IV or a Diploma to Advanced Diploma, you’re eligible for a Skills First place and could have your citizenship requirement waived. You’ll need to complete your application on campus.
If you’re applying for a Certificate I to IV, you may also receive a concession rate on your course fees. If you are applying for a Diploma or Advanced Diploma you will also need to apply for a Swinburne Welcome Scholarship so that your Skills First place fees are covered by the scholarship.
Free TAFE for Priority Courses
If you’re eligible for a Skills First place, you might also be able to apply for Free TAFE for Priority Courses. You’ll need to complete your application on campus.
Swinburne Welcome Scholarship
If you hold one of the visas above and are applying for an undergraduate course, a Diploma/Advanced Diploma or UniLink Diploma, you might be eligible for a Swinburne Welcome Scholarship. Swinburne Welcome Scholarships comprise a full fee waiver. In applying for an undergraduate or Unlink Diploma course you will need to submit an online course application online course application as an international student and apply for a Swinburne Welcome Scholarship.
