The aim of the unit is to enable students to study and understand global legal issues that may arise in the conduct of international trade focusing particularly on intellectual property, international sales, transportation, financing and dispute settlement across national borders.

- Identify, understand and apply the relevant legal principles in an international business environment, in particular to export and import, especially in relation to drafting of sales contracts, international payments, carriage of goods overseas
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge of the laws, (including relevant treaty law multilateral and domestic law), which impact on international sales and licensing contracts, payments, insurance, and dispute settlement
- Recognise and analyse controversies in international legal case studies, and evaluate and analyse the risks for businesses operating in the global environment
- Recognise the validity of multiple points of view in solving international business law issues and synthesize these arguments into a coherent, cogent analysis and/or advice
- Develop problem solving and analytical skills
