The Bachelor of Science (Professional) provides you with a broad science overview with the ability to specialise and complete a built-in 12-month work placement.
The course aims to equip you with the skills, knowledge and key theoretical insights required to work in a range of professional scientific environments. You'll practically apply what you learn through project-based units of study, which are a distinctive feature of the course.
Drawing on the expertise of leading teachers, researchers and a variety of industry experts, the course allows you to tailor your degree and develop a unique range of interdisciplinary skills.
The topics covered seek to blend a range of key scientific skills and knowledge required by current and projected industry needs.
All our bachelor degrees include a guaranteed Work Integrated Learning opportunity, which could be a placement, internship or industry-linked project. This Professional Degree includes a mandatory 12-month paid work placement. You'll benefit from Swinburne’s unique industry partnerships, gain invaluable full-time work experience and earn credit towards your degree. You'll also apply your learning in three projects (one per year) in professionally focused, industry-linked projects throughout your degree.

The indicative course fees shown in Course Search apply to international students for the relevant year only. They are based on a standard study load per year. However, please note that fees are assessed according to a student's study load in each semester, and variation to study load will result in an adjustment to tuition fees. All fees are subject to annual review and may be adjusted.
International students in Australia who hold student visas are required to study full-time and on campus. Courses that are taught entirely online are only available to international students studying outside Australia or those in Australia who are not on a student visa. Online courses are not available to international students in Australia who hold a student visa.
The opportunities that are provided and supported by Swinburne are amazing - my favourite part of the course has to be when I worked with Oz Grav and Alan Duffy to investigate how useful virtual reality could be as a tool to teach and engage.
