This Professional Degree includes a mandatory 12-month paid work placement. In this degree’s Industry Consulting Project (BUS30032), one of our industry partners will put forward a real problem. Finding solutions will require you to put what you’ve learned into practice. You’ll team up with other students to analyse the issue and propose solutions back to your client.
Sustainable Business Practice (BUS30031) teaches you to tackle problems and opportunities with holistic thinking. In this unit, you’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary team to find innovative, creative, and practical business solutions, that also consider ethical business practices and sustainability goals.
Swinburne’s Logistics and Supply Chain Management major is endorsed by The Supply Chain and Logistics Association of Australia (SCLAA).

The Professional Placement co-major has four 25 credit point units.

You might choose to complete your internship part-time over a semester or in a more intensive block during Summer or Winter terms.

- Full-time study: 100 credit points/eight standard units of study per year
- Part-time study: 50 credit points/four standard units of study per year

Course learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:

Career opportunities
Graduates may wish to seek employment in a wide range of fields such as accounting, business analysis, commercial law, communications, entrepreneurship, event management, finance, human resources, international business, management, marketing or public relations.
Professional recognition
Graduates with an Accounting or Accounting and Finance major may be eligible to apply for membership of CPA Australia (CPAA), Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) or the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA).
Please note that the Accounting and Finance major is not available for international students.
The Finance major, in the Bachelor of Business and related double degrees, is recognised under the CFA Institute Affiliated University. The course covers at least 70% of Level 1 of the CFA program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) placing emphasis on the CFA Institute Codes of Ethics and Standards of Practice. This recognition signals to students, employers and the marketplace that that Swinburne’s curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well suited to preparing you for employment in the finance and investment industry, and for sitting the CFA examination. Students of the Finance major may be eligible for CFA Program Student Scholarships.

Our financial planning courses are FASEA approved*
The Financial Advisers Standards and Ethics Authority (FASEA) has approved Swinburne’s undergraduate and postgraduate courses in financial planning. This includes the Bachelor of Business and the Bachelor of Accounting, with majors in Financial Planning, or in Accounting and Financial Planning. Graduates of a FASEA approved Swinburne course will satisfy the educational standards and requirements prescribed by FASEA to provide financial advice in Australia. Graduates are eligible for entry into the Financial Planning Association of Australia’s CFP® (CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®) certified program.

Swinburne's Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Business (Professional) with major in Finance together with Master of Finance incorporates at least 70 percent of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) and emphasises CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
Students of these programs have a head start to obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and selected students of these programs may receive CFA scholarships.
