The Graduate Certificate of Data Science is designed to prepare students to work in a variety of roles in data-driven decision-making.
Build on your existing undergraduate qualification and/or industry experience as you develop skills related to managing, interpreting, visualising and deriving knowledge from small to medium-sized data sets.
In this course, you’ll expand your knowledge of computer science, data analytics and visualisation, and gain an understanding of the challenges of the data management lifecycle. You’ll also complete a project-based learning unit designed to introduce industry-relevant tools and techniques.

Course description
International students in Australia who hold student visas are required to study full-time and on campus. Courses that are taught entirely online are only available to international students studying outside Australia or those in Australia who are not on a student visa. Online courses are not available to international students in Australia who hold a student visa.
Course structure
- Eight (8) core units (100 credit points).
The maximum level of credit that can be granted for the Graduate Certificate of Data Science is 50 credit points (normally four units)

- a completed bachelor degree (or higher award) in any discipline from a recognised higher education institution or equivalent
English language requirements
Satisfactory completion of one of the following:
- IELTS overall band of 6.5 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 6.0
- Swinburne’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 Advanced level) with overall 70%, all skills 65%
- Or equivalent measures available at English language requirements.
