Diploma of Visual Arts
An artist is the caretaker of creative culture in a society. With the Swinburne Diploma of Visual Arts you’ll be primed to contribute to that culture in a variety of meaningful ways.
You’ll study a comprehensive range of visual skills from drawing to digital imaging. And you’ll become well-versed in the theory that underpins good visual artistry, with sound knowledge of contemporary art issues and the arts industry. All taught in our open-plan studio complex by experienced artists who are specialists in their field.
You’ll build an expressive portfolio based on a variety of visual arts skills, including:
- Drawing
- Painting
- Sculpture
- Printmaking
- Digital imaging
- Photography
Swinburne is the first university in Australia to be an Adobe Creative Campus, and you’ll enjoy free access to Adobe Creative Cloud software on all of your devices.
Upon graduation, you can proceed to an Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts or begin to paint an exciting future in the industry. Become an artist in areas such as illustration, public art or digital art, or seek employment as an administrator, such as gallery technician or curator in any number of arts, government, community or commercial settings.
