The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care is for those who are interested in working in the early childhood services sector, or who are already working in the field and are responsible for planning, implementing and managing programs in early childhood services. At this level, workers have responsibility for the supervision of staff and volunteers.
In most states this is the highest qualification required at director or service manager level for early childhood service centre-based care.
The course includes on-campus and online classes, as well as multiple work placements.

New learning model introduces more student placement hours
Swinburne and the Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) have together developed a new learning model for the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
The new model, being piloted exclusively at Swinburne, has significantly more placement hours over the duration of the course, after industry partners raised the need for graduates who are more confident and work-ready.
As a student, you’ll receive continuous support as you put your learnings into practice immediately. You’ll also practice your leadership skills and graduate ready to take on a qualified role in workplace.
