Learn to deliver holistic rehabilitation support with the Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance – Sport and Fitness.
This course, delivered in partnership with Aligned Leisure (a subsidiary of Richmond Football Club), focuses on fitness, physiotherapy, wellbeing and community health. You’ll study a mix of core subjects and electives, covering topics such as communication in health, legal and ethical compliance, medical terminology, fitness programming and rehabilitation support. Two work placements will give you the chance to use your skills in real-world situations.
Upon completion, you’ll be ready to work as an allied health assistant, supporting physiotherapists, occupational therapists and dietitians in a range of health settings.

Course description
The program is delivered in conjunction with Aligned Leisure (a subsidiary of Richmond Football Club) and has a focus on fitness, physiotherapy, wellbeing, and community health. There are two placements required for this program, one in a community health or hospital setting, the other in the fitness industry. This course requires the ability to travel to different locations and is only offered in full-time mode.
The student will learn in a safe, simulated environment before undertaking placement in the field, supported by our qualified and dedicated facilitators. Students will gain knowledge and practical skills that will enable them to deliver therapeutic programs, and to deliver quality care in hospital, community rehabilitation, and sports and fitness environments.

- HLTAID003 Provide First Aid (completed within 3 years)
- HLTAID001 Provide CPR (completed within 12 months)

You may be entitled to apply for a fee concession if you meet the eligibility criteria. Concession rates usually provide eligible students with a discount on Swinburne’s standard tuition fees for a range of vocational education (TAFE) qualifications.

- a valid Working With Children Check (or be prepared to obtain this prior to placements)
- a valid Police Check (or be prepared to obtain this prior to placements)
- This course may require up-to-date evidence of immunisations for placement. If required and you are not able to provide up-to-date evidence, you will not be able to attend the clinical placement component of this course. Additional immunisations may be required in response to any changes in Government policy or the specific requirements of the organisation you attend for your clinical placement. Further information will be provided at the commencement of the course.
