Course description
The Bachelor of Accounting allows students to develop skills that are fundamental to evaluating, analysing and communicating the financial position of an organisation or individual. The Bachelor of Accounting is designed to prepare individuals in the core areas of financial accounting, management accounting, finance, tax and auditing, in addition to economics and company law.
To comply with the National Threshold Learning Standards for accounting, the teaching and learning activities and assessment tasks in the course are designed to instil a range of skills including oral, communication, presentation, critical analysis, problem solving and group work skills. Students with studies in Accounting find rewarding work in industry, commerce, the public sector, the financial industry or business consulting and public accounting.International students in Australia who hold student visas are required to study full-time and on campus. Courses that are taught entirely online are only available to international students studying outside Australia or those in Australia who are not on a student visa. Online courses are not available to international students in Australia who hold a student visa.
Course structure
- 8 core units of study (100 credit points) AND
- 8 units of study from the Accounting major (100 credit points) AND
- 8 units of Secondary Studies (100 credit points) comprising of a second major, minor/s, or electives OR
- 16 units of study from the (Accounting and Financial Planning major) (200 credit points) *
Students may not complete more than 125 credit points (normally 10 units) at Introductory Level. A unit of study can only be counted once, where units are shared between majors and/or minors, students must choose an approved alternate.
Maximum Academic Credit
The maximum level of credit that can be granted for the Bachelor of Accounting is 150 credit points (normally 12 units)

Satisfactory completion of one of the following:
- Swinburne’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 Advanced level) with overall 65%, all skills 65%
- minimum IELTS overall band of 6.0 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 6.0
- TOEFL iBT (internet-based) minimum score of 75 with a reading band no less than 18 and writing band no less than 20
- Pearson (PTE) minimum score of 50 (no communicative skills less than 50)
- any other equivalent assessment of English language proficiency.
