If your application for a research degree is successful, you need to enrol and get started as a research student at Swinburne.

Important enrolment information

  • Please read your offer letter carefully prior to enrolment
  • Your enrolment date will be the start date of your research candidature
  • Enrolment must be completed before the lapse date of your offer letter. If you are unable to complete your enrolment by your offer lapse date, please email HDRAdmissions@swinburne.edu.au
  • If you have received a conditional offer the conditions of your offer must be met prior to your enrolment.

Where and when can I enrol?

Enrolments are conducted in person at:

Graduate Studies
Hawthorn Campus
Ground Floor, EN Building
John St, Hawthorn, VIC 3122

Enrolments are conducted on Mondays and Thursdays from 2.00pm to 4.00pm.

What should I bring to enrolment?

Please refer to your offer letter for the documentation required for your enrolment. This could include:

  • your passport (or other proof of identity)
  • your offer letter
  • original or original certified copies of academic transcripts from your previous course/s
  • a copy of your visa (international students)
  • a copy of your CoE (international students).

Getting started

To start your research program at Swinburne, you need to log into Swinburne’s systems and complete the Student Online Induction.

You can access information and resources to help you throughout your PhD on the Swinburne Intranet, including the Student Online Induction, information for new students, policies and regulations, forms, training sessions, support services and events.
