Biography


Samuel is a social and organisational psychologist whose research focuses on health and medical leadership, folk conceptions of the common good, public perceptions of leadership for the greater good, and how moral intuitions and worldviews affect public trust in and attitudes towards social institutions. He is the founder of the Australian Leadership Index, co-lead of the Public Interest Technology research program of the Social Innovation Research Institute, Deputy Director of the Social Psychology of Innovation Research Group, and co-convenor of the Technology x Society Forum. 

His research has appeared in the British Journal of Social Psychology, Social and Personality Psychology Compass, and Behavior Research Methods, among other journals. Committed to research that creates social impact, Sam has published extensively with Emergency Medicine Australasia, The Conversation and Analysis and Policy Observatory. Sam has been awarded over $1.5 million in external research grants from industry on leadership and humanitarianism-related research projects. 

In addition to his leadership development work in the Swinburne Business School, Sam works closely with academic, medical, government and community leaders to develop their capacity for adaptive and ethical leadership.
