Message from the Vice-Chancellor: Global Climate Strike

As you may be aware, there is a Global Climate Strike on Friday 20 September, which some of you may want to attend.

I encourage Swinburne students and staff to engage with the important issues of our time. If this is a matter that is important to you, Swinburne respects your right to have your voice heard. 

Information for students

If you decide to participate in this climate action, Swinburne will support you where practicable so that your education is not adversely impacted.

Please be aware that some courses have Australian government attendance requirements and it is important that you meet your obligations in this regard. Please contact your unit convenor if you have any questions or concerns about attendance requirements.

You should meet your assessment commitments, including learning activities such as group assignments. Where possible, Swinburne will make alternative arrangements for in-class assessments scheduled for Friday 20 September. Please contact your unit convenor to confirm requirements.

As always, you may take advantage of tools such as online materials, which enable you to keep up with your learning if you decide to miss a class to attend the climate strike.
