Swinburne has ranked in the top 430 universities globally, once again improving its position in the QS World University Rankings by rising another 20 places. 

Of the approximate 26,000 universities worldwide, Swinburne placed in the upper 1.6 per cent of these institutions by performing in the top 43 percent in the QS World University Rankings. 

Each year the QS World University rankings consider more than 3800 universities around the world with the top 900 ranked according to six key performance indicators.

The rankings are designed to assess universities in four areas: research, teaching, employability and internationalisation.

Earlier in 2017, the QS World University Rankings by Subject recognised Swinburne as having one of the best design schools in the world.

Swinburne ranked in the top 100 for Art and Design, and top 200 for Engineering: Civil and Structural, and Communication and Media Studies.

In 2016, for the second consecutive year, Swinburne was ranked in the QS rankings for the world’s top universities under the age of 50.
