Members of the Swinburne community were recognised in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List. The Queen's Birthday Honours List recognises Australians for outstanding excellence, achievement or meritorious service.

All members of the Swinburne community would also like to congratulate the distinguished Vice-Chancellor Professor Linda Kristjanson, who has been awarded an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO).

Congratulations to the following recipients and their families.

The late Stephen Ashton, a Graduate Diploma of Business Admin alumnus who supported research in the Faculty of Business and Law and indigenous scholarships, was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to architecture through management and design roles, as well as to motorsport and to several professional organisations.

Thanh Le, who graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Environmental Health, was awarded a Public Service Medal (PSM) for outstanding contributions to international humanitarian emergency response.

Glenn O’Donnell completed a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and was recognised with an Emergency Services Medal (ESM) for emergency services in Victoria.

Neil Paterson, Assistant Commissioner for the Victoria Police, completed a Graduate Diploma of Disaster Management, and was awarded an Australian Police Medal (APM) for outstanding service in security and intelligence.
