Swinburne students recognised at Victorian International Education Awards

The achievements of three international students at Swinburne have been celebrated at a ceremony for the 2016 Victorian International Education Awards.
The students were among sixteen winners who received their awards at Government House in Melbourne this week.
Swinburne award winners
International student advocate and Swinburne PhD candidate, Wesa Chau, was named Victorian Student of the Year – Internationalisation for her work in improving the experiences of international students in Australia. As a student she founded the Australian Federation of International Students, helping foreign students get access to the support while at university.
Argentinian student, Maria Victoria Gonzalez was named International Student of the Year – English Language Training. Maria studies English for Academic Purposes at Swinburne College.
Indonesian student Yuliana Sari was highly commended as the International Student of the Year – Higher Education. Yuliana studies Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology at Swinburne.
Victorian International Education Awards
Now in their fourth year, the awards recognise the achievements of Victoria’s 175,000 international students and the education providers that support them.
At the ceremony, Minister for Small Business, Innovation and Trade, Philip Dalidakis, reiterated the importance of the sector to Victoria’s overall trade revenues.
“A thriving international education sector changes people’s lives for the better, while also generating jobs and economic growth for Victoria.”
The winners receive up to $10,000 towards their studies at one of Victoria’s educational institutions.
