Swinburne staff and students have come together to celebrate five years since the Multi Faith Facility opened at the Hawthorn campus.

Located on level 3 of The George building, the Multi Faith Facility is a place for students and staff to meditate or spend time in quiet reflection. It is accommodating of all religious affiliations and denominations.

The event saw people come together from different religions and backgrounds to acknowledge each other’s faiths.

Indigenous artist Arbup Peters presented the Multi Faith Facility with an artwork, which symbolically acknowledged the facility and the impact it has had on the Swinburne community.

Director of Multicultural Engagement, Chin Tan, who was at the celebration, says it was important to celebrate Swinburne’s commitment to diversity.

“I applaud the university for wanting to expand on the idea of multicultural engagement beyond just ethnicity.

“Everyone who uses this space has one thing in common - they have faith.”
