Swinburne and Access Health and Community (formerly known as Inner East Community Health Services) will continue to uphold their shared commitment to the community through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The MoU is an opportunity for Swinburne and Access Health and Community (AccessHC) to strengthen their collaboration, with a focus on interdisciplinary and multidimensional projects.
These projects will encompass research, health interventions, assistive technologies, student projects and placements.
Swinburne Vice-Chancellor Professor Linda Kristjanson is looking forward to watching the increased scale and impact of future collaborations.
“The potential of such collaboration has already been demonstrated through some of the projects that have already been launched, including the Waiting Room 2020 project currently being undertaken with Swinburne’s Future Self Design Living Lab – of which Access Health and Community is a foundation partner,” Professor Kristjanson says.
The CEO of Access Health and Community, Dr Harry Majewski says he hopes the MoU is the start of a major collaboration that will improve the lives of people.
Swinburne and AccessHC are collaborating on a number of projects including:
Waiting Room 2020
A project being undertaken between AccessHC and Swinburne Future Self and Design Living Lab. This aims to revolutionise the concept of a medical waiting room, making it a supportive environment for both the clinician and the patient.
Clinical Placements
Providing education and training to Swinburne’s growing number of allied health and nursing students.
Student Placements and Internships
Supporting innovation through student placements, internships and projects across a range of relevant disciplines.
Kickstarter Fund (Building and Trust Interaction)
The development of a Kickstarter Fund of $50,000, to be used to facilitate the commencement of projects with Swinburne including preliminary studies, prototyping or scholarships for projects.
AccessHC and Swinburne are close neighbours in the inner-east. AccessHC’s Hawthorn clinic and Headspace facility is located across the road from Swinburne’s Hawthorn campus.
In addition to proximity, AccessHC and Swinburne share a mutual vision to integrate innovation into every aspect of their services, with the end user firmly at the centre of programs and service delivery.
