Swinburne has formalised a research partnership with one of the United Kingdom’s most entrepreneurial universities, Coventry University.
The partnership will bring together researchers from Coventry and Swinburne to collaborate on joint research projects and joint supervision of PhD students in areas of complementary research strengths, through a partnered PhD agreement.
As current mobility partners, Swinburne and Coventry have existing research connections in advanced manufacturing, mobility and transport, entrepreneurship and innovation, health technology, serious games and design.
Coventry and Swinburne share the aspiration and drive to grow research excellence with impact, develop sustainable partnerships with industry, support research translation and innovation.
“We are pleased to partner with Coventry University, a like-minded organisation that has a proven international reputation in education and outcomes achieved in entrepreneurship and innovation,” says Professor Aleksandar Subic, Swinburne Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Development).
The agreement was signed during the Coventry University delegation visit to Swinburne, led by their Vice Chancellor and CEO, Professor John Latham.
The visit also facilitated a series of research workshops between key researchers from both Swinburne and Coventry to scope potential projects in areas of mutual interest. The two institutions discussed opportunities for joint ventures in the Asian region.
Coventry is a public research university. It has been successful in achieving number 1 rankings in the United Kingdom for teaching quality, university of the year for student experience, and number 15 in Guardian League Tables. In 2015 the university won the Queen's Award for Enterprise: International Trade.
