In Summary

An international study tour is giving ten Swinburne University of Technology students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the Indian Bollywood film culture.

Studying Swinburne’s Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media, the students are today travelling over to India where they will spend time in a number of Indian regions in Southern Mumbai, visiting Bollywood film sets, meeting film producers and witnessing Bollywood films being made.

Study tour leader and Swinburne film teacher, Boris Trbic, said that the trip to India would expose the students to an array of new and unique experiences.

“This study tour will give our students a great insight into how large the Bollywood film industry is, as well as the complexity involved with making a Bollywood film,” Mr Trbic said.

“India is the largest film producer worldwide, releasing more than 1600 films each year. The students on this trip will hopefully be inspired to consider an international film career upon completing their course at Swinburne.”

Some of the planned activities that the students will be participating in include a visit to a reality TV show filming, meeting Bollywood film producers and actors, as well as visiting the film studios where sound recording, dubbing and mixing is done.

The tour is open to all students studying Swinburne’s Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media and runs for two weeks. This is the third year that Swinburne has run this study tour to India.
