Swinburne has finalists in Byron Bay International Film Festival

Swinburne is playing a starring role in the Byron Bay International Film Festival, with two students up for the Young Australian Filmmaker of the Year award, plus four student films screening during the ten day festival.
Klayton Stainer and Danniika Horvat are among the nine Australians vying for the honour of Young Australian Filmmaker of the Year.
Swinburne Film and Television Lecturer Dr Jeff Bird said it was impressive to have four different student films screening during the international festival.
“This is an incredible number of Swinburne films to be screening, in what is a very competitive festival.”
Marli Lopez Hope is one of the Swinburne students who will have her film showing during the festival.
Where No Vultures Fly was her second year film and was shot on a 16mm camera. The plot centres around the tale of a young boy’s fight to rescue his favourite waterhole from the destructive farming practices of his dismissive father.
Running from March 6- 15, the Byron Bay International Film Festival is screening films from around the world.
