In Summary

In line with International Women’s Day this Thursday 6 March, Swinburne University of Technology will be hosting the Annual Women in Film & Television event this year.

Held at Swinburne’s Prahran campus, the event will showcase  some of the talented female filmmakers who have produced award-winning short films, animations and documentaries during their time at Swinburne.

“The Women in Film & TV event will begin with a screening of the films and will then be followed by a Q&A panel, where the audience will be able to engage with the filmmakers, asking them questions about their work and experiences in the film industry,” Jill Holt, Swinburne Course Co-ordinator of Film & Television, said.

“There will be film screenings from eight Swinburne past and present students, including Jessica Barclay Lawton, Romilly Spiers, Nicole Tan, Lucy McKendrick, Ann-Maree Shelton, Summer DeRoche, Andrea Distefano, Marli Lopez-Hope and Natalie Nalesnyik.”

This is the second year that Women in Film & TV, a non-for-profit organisation, have held the event that aims to celebrate the diverse range of female talent in the Film and Television industry in Australia.

“Swinburne’s Film & Television program is one of the largest in Australia, so to be able to have the event held at our campus is great for us,” Ms Holt said.

“The films that will be screening are of a high quality, and demonstrate the talent that has come out of Swinburne. We would love the general public to come along and watch these films.”
