Overview

Shanghai is a meeting point for traditional and contemporary art and culture, combing influences from the East and the West. This Study Tour offers the opportunity for you to produce a city film or media project of your choice. We will spend one week in Shanghai and the second week in Ningbo (one hour from Shanghai on the bullet train). We will spend a week at Zhejinang Wanli University and visit the Xiangshan Global Studios. In the film studios you will conduct a studio and virtual production. Zhejinang Wanli University will be the base for the exploration of pre and post production for the studio activity.

You will also have the option to take part in a number of cultural immersion activities, such as visits to local museums and galleries.

This study tour is open to students in the School of Social Sciences, Media, Film and Education and beyond. An interest and some experience in screen, film and media production is advantageous.

China is becoming a key player in the global entertainment industry. An understanding of the Chinese context and the special production and distribution mechanism will be an insight into understanding future developments in the media and film landscape.
