batyr at Swinburne

Uni life can be exciting, overwhelming, and everything in between. That’s where batyr comes in.

batyr is a preventative mental health organisation driven by young people for young people. They empower people to take charge of their mental health early and often.

Through lived experience storytelling, batyr shares mental health stories that inspire action, reaching young people early and often with the tools they need to look after themselves and each other before a crisis. batyr has a passionate and growing network of over 1,400 young storytellers who bravely share their lived experiences with thousands of young people in communities across the country every year.

Our partnership with batyr is all about creating a campus culture where mental health is understood, supported and openly talked about.

Together, we deliver:

  • Programs that build mental health literacy

  • Lived experience storytelling that challenges stigma and spark conversation

  • On-campus events and activations that bring students together in a meaningful way

You might see batyr during key moments across the year - from orientation through to exam periods - helping you feel more prepared, connected and supported.

In the spotlight

In 2026, batyr’s work at Swinburne was recognised during a visit from Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who met with students to learn more about how young people are leading the conversation on mental health.

While it was a proud moment, what matters most is what happens every day on campus - students supporting students, and changing the way mental health is talked about.
