This event is for high school students in Years 9-12 only

If you are not a current Year 9-12 high school student, browse our other upcoming events or chat to someone about studying with Swinburne.

Curious about studying STEM after high school?

Do you dream of getting paid to code, revolutionising the world of robotics, or solving problems in outer space? Maybe you already think like an engineer and want to know your course options – and what it takes to get there. Whether you're passionate about algorithms or anatomy, this is your chance to see exactly what life at Swinburne is all about.

This immersive event is for you if you’re interested in any of the following study areas:

  • Architectural Engineering
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Astronomy and Astrophysics

Session details

You’ll attend not one, but two different workshops and see how you could explore your passion for STEM at Swinburne. Choose from:

Artificial intelligence is transforming the way we do business. Experience the future of business, solve business challenges, and pitch ideas – no code, no problem.

Introducing biomechanics: where medical engineering meets bionics. You’ll learn all about how mechanical and electrical engineers come up with solutions to medical problems. Design and build your own prototype of a bionic hand, then put it to the test with a challenge!

Discover architectural engineering through a bubble-inspired session that shows how shape, structure, and materials come together in design.

Take part in an exciting demonstration of science brought to life. This workshop will captivate your curiosity through a series of chemical experiments, including colourful transformations and explosive reactions.

Calling all budding pilots! Get your hands behind the controls of a plane and take to the (virtual) skies in our flight simulator.

Try out different interactive activities to see exactly how cyber security experts defend against hackers and cyber threats.

Compete against other students to design and build the lightest LEGO® catapult that can launch an object the furthest.

Learn how software engineers design and build digital solutions through coding, problem solving, and real-world applications.

Lift off your career in business and explore the management side of aviation. This interactive session will give you a taste of life as an aviation businessperson and teach you how to navigate the turbulent terrain that surrounds it.

Experience the birth of stars, galaxies and black holes through immersive 3D visuals in Swinburne’s Virtual Universe.
