The PrimeSCI! Team is excited to announce the launch our new Inflatable Planetarium - an immersive experience that takes your budding scientist on a guided tour of the universe and night sky!

The PrimeSCI! science program will also include hands-on workshops on natural disasters, forces, coding with Edison Robotics and forensics.

We will also be running family AstroTours in Swinburne's 3D theatre delivered by expert astronomers from the Swinburne Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing!

Science Workshops

Step inside the inflatable dome and head into space. Explore the night sky, our Solar System and beyond! Note – children will be in dark, enclosed space while adults remain outside, so please consider the suitability of this for your child before booking. Children may experience motion sickness. (1hr)

Foundation - Year 2

Explore layers within the Earth, tectonic plate movement and the causes of earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunamis. Take part in hands-on activities that teach about Earth’s mantle layer and its movement. (1hr)

Year 3 - 6

Step inside the inflatable dome and head into space. Explore the night sky, our Solar System and beyond! Note – children will be in dark, enclosed space while adults remain outside, so please consider the suitability of this for your child before booking. Children may experience motion sickness. (1hr)

Year 3 - 6

Explore gravity, friction and magnetism in this hour of hands-on physics action! Discover how to make things move faster, higher and further as forces battle against each other. (1hr)

Year 2 - 4

An introduction to robotics for some of our youngest programmers, with the little Edison robots. What instructions have they been given? Communicate with them to complete robot challenges as you learn more about coding, sensors and robotics. (1hr)

Foundation - Year 2

Oh no! The Big Golden Guitar has been stolen from outside Tamworth, NSW. Detectives have narrowed down the suspects to four famous pop stars travelling through Australia and we need your help to analyse the evidence. Decode a message transmitted in morse code, measure pH of soil found and compare to concert locations. Test for blood type using drops found at the crime scene. Can you help us crack this case using your science skills? (1hr)

Year 3 - 6

Wearing 3D glasses, investigate Earth’s day, night and seasons, before heading out to explore the other planets of our Solar System! Family AstroTours are presented by astronomers from the Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing. Family AstroTour sessions are open to anyone age 7+. (1hr)
