Attention Junior Scientists! Get ready for three days filled with hands-on holiday science for curious kids from Kinder to Year 8. Exciting new workshops will include Animal Behaviour Tracking, Cells, Circuits and Currents, and Edisons Space Code Quest.

The PrimeSCI! Team are excited to return to the Wantirna Campus, and will be joined again by legendary retired science teacher Ralph Sinclair OAM.

Science Workshops

Head to the Moon with little Edison Robots! Learn about space research and exploration while using coding. Program the robots to complete challenges in small groups, take parts to a lunar rover and detect precious minerals. (1hr)

Get up close with the tiny parts that make up all living things. What are the parts inside a cell? Examine specimens under the microscope and make your own cell model to take home. (1hr)

Explore the world of plastics, molecules and polymers, and learn the unique uses of each plastic type. Students make their own plastic and will be impressed by the amazing shrinking plastic. Go beyond looking at plastics as waste materials that can be recycled. (1hr)

Oh no - our chocolate eggs have been stolen by a famous popstar visiting Australia! Help solve this crime using fingerprints, soil analysis and other clues that the musician thief left behind. (1hr)

Use digital technology to count species, measure sound levels and track animal movements in our classroom. Please come dressed as an animal (Note - there are no live animals, children will act as animals). (1hr)

Why do some things mix with water while others do not? How do we separate mixtures to get what we want? This delightful hands-on session will draw children into the world of chemistry and engineering as they explore the phenomena of dissolving, crystallisation and make colourful discoveries with materials. (1hr)

Explore electrical currents, properties of circuits and the movement of electrical charges through different materials. Learn about safe and unsafe circuits around your home. (1.5hrs)

Step into the Bubble Lab and become a Bubble Scientist. Find out how bubbles form, test them out with experiments and have bubble fun! (1hr)

Learn more about states of matter through exciting experiments with dry ice. Fast-paced and activity-filled, students will explore the topics of condensation and sublimation in this special lesson. (1hr)
