Attention Junior Scientists! Get ready for two days filled with hands-on holiday science for curious kids from Kinder to Year 8.

The PrimeSCI! Team are excited to return to the Wantirna Campus, and will be joined again by the Southern Ocean Environmental Link.

Science Workshops

Discover the secret of magic beans in this activity-packed session. Identify and dissect seeds, and use magnifying glasses to explore the secret world of plants. (1hr)

Prep - Grade 2

Explore gravity, friction and magnetism in this hour of hands-on physics fun. Make your own hovercraft to take home. (1hr)

Grade 1 - 4

An introduction to chemistry for your youngest scientists. Use your eyes, ears, nose and hands to observe what happens in these bubbly, colourful and smelly experiments. (1hr)

4YO Kinder

Dissect this delicate organ and be amazed at how this jelly-like structure is responsible for the way we work, think and behave. Real sheeps brains used. (1hr)

Grade 3 - Year 8

Find out more about how plastic enters and affects the marine environment from the Southern Ocean Environmental Link team. Become actively involved in the recycling process as you sort, clean and shred plastic bottle lids, then use their machine to turn them into a new pen, keyring or spinner to take home. Bring your own plastic bottle lids to recycle (or use ours). (1hr)

Prep - Year 8

Who stole Ken's surfboard? We have gathered all the Barbie suspects together so that you can use your forensic science skills to identify the thief. Examine hair samples and compare the tyre tracks left at the crime scene with Barbie vehicles. Was the thief driving a campervan or a convertible? (1hr)
