In this webinar, Justice Joshua Wilson (Family Court of Australia), Darren Mort (barrister and founder of To Be Loved Network), and Dr Georgina Dimopoulos (Law lecturer, Swinburne University of Technology) will discuss ways to promote children’s participation in family law proceedings, including the practice of judges meeting with children, the role of family consultants and Independent Children’s Lawyers, and the relevance of children’s rights in this context.

The discussion will be moderated by Senior Registrar Rohan Hoult (Family Court of Australia and Federal Circuit Court of Australia).

The event will include a special screening of the award-winning short film, TOMMY, which follows the journey of a young boy who uses his imagination to escape the trauma of his parents’ separation. TOMMY has been selected in 16 international film festivals including Flickerfest and St Kilda Film Festival and nominated for over 24 awards, including Best Film. The film is also serving its purpose as a teaching tool used by key influencers in the family law space.
