Nanowires for Optoelectronic Device Applications

Professor Chennupati Jagadish

Research School of Physical Sciences and Engineering, Australian National University

3:00 pm Friday, 18 September 2009, EN101 (EN Building), Hawthorn.

Nanowires are considered as building blocks for the next generation electronics and photonics. Our recent efforts to grow nanowires and controlling their composition, size and shape will be discussed. Control of crystal structure and its effect on polarization properties of nanowires will be discussed. Core-shell nanowires and axial heterostructure nanowires and their optical properties will be presented. THz spectroscopy of nanowires and non-contact way of determining ac conductivity of the nanowires will be discussed. Future prospects for nanowires will be presented.
