Social Innovation Project in Sarawak - Malaysia

Location: Sarawak, Malaysia

18 June - 29 July

Duration: Six weeks
Eligible students: All students
Unit code: ENT30014/ENT80030
Applications: Close Tuesday 15 May, 2018

This program provides students with the opportunity to experience the work of a social enterprise and gain fuller understanding of the operations, management and leadership required within social enterprises. Through a program of lectures and field work, students will apply the knowledge they gain to real world challenges, building their capacity to pursue a career in entrepreneurial practice or as an innovative member of a social enterprise.

Through a partnership with Breakthrough Network, a NGO based in Kuching, students will complete a consultancy project aimed at developing and sustaining a pool of committed volunteers to support youth from low-income and single-parent families.   You will be required to undertake an analysis and then recommend strategies to recruit, train and retain volunteers to support the Centre’s services.

The fieldwork component will require you to get your hands dirty and you will assist with constructing a single-storey house for a family.
