Overview

Develop the skills analysts need for industry success with the Graduate Certificate of Business Information Systems. This qualification teaches you to assess and manage information systems within an organisation. Our course has an emphasis on database analysis and design, professional IT issues and business information systems.

Study structure

Successful completion of the Graduate Certificate of Business Information Systems requires students to complete units of study to the value of 50 credit points. All units of study are valued at 12.5 credit points unless otherwise stated.

  • Full-time study: 100 credit points/eight standard units of study per year

  • Part-time study: 50 credit points/four standard units of study per year

  • One credit point is equivalent to one hour of study per week per semester (including contact hours and private study)

Aims and objectives

Upon successfully completing the Graduate Certificate of Business Information Systems, graduates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate coherent and advanced knowledge of the inter-disciplinary nature of information systems in organisations
  • Critically evaluate the underpinnings of information systems, including
  • Critically evaluate a range of theories and practices pertaining to the use of information systems in organisations, and apply them in the context of business analysis, project management and information management
  • Critically analyse organisational problems from both a broader information systems perspective and the specific perspective of business analysis, project management or information management
  • Communicate effectively with key stakeholders and develop effective working relationships.

Maximum Academic Credit

The maximum level of credit that can be granted for the Graduate Certificate of Business Information Systems is 25 credit points (normally 2 units).
