What is LabRats Science club?

The LabRats Science club is a program that has been delivered by our partners, PrimeSCI! Science Education, since 2012.

Every year 25 junior high achievers, from years 5 and 6, and 25 senior high achievers, from years 7 and 8, are selected to join the club. This program runs across 10 months and includes a range of learning activities, competitions and more.

What's involved?

Every month, the LabRats Science Club meet – accompanied by one of the Superstar Scientists – and take part in interactive workshops like the Solar Charger Challenge, the Paper Pilot Challenge, and many more.

How to join

To apply for the program, head on over to the LabRats Science club website and join the waitlist. Please note, places in the program are finite and depend on how many places are available – you will be contacted when there's an opening after joining the waitlist.

The current annual fee is $440 for the full year. 

Or, there is an option to pay an upfront fee of $250 for the first five sessions, then an additional $250 if your student continues in the second half of the year.

Sessions usually happen on one Saturday every month (morning for juniors, late morning for seniors).

The Labrats Science club sessions typically take place at the Australian Synchrotron in Clayton within the ANSTO (Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation) facility – 800 Blackburn Road, Clayton, VIC 3168.
