Professor Tara Magdalinski

Professor Tara Magdalinski holds a PhD from The University of Queensland and has published widely in the area of sports studies, focussing on the intersection between sport, technology and the body as well as the relationship between sport and identity in contemporary and historical contexts. 

She has studied and lectured in Queensland, The Netherlands and Germany and was the Associate Dean, Teaching and Learning, in the UCD School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science in Dublin, Ireland. 

Tara returned to Australia in 2016 to accept the position as Dean, Learning Innovation for the Faculty of Health, Arts and Design at Swinburne. A past President of the Australian Society for Sports History and a long-time Executive member, she was made a Fellow in 2017 for her contributions to sports history in Australia. She has previously won Research and Teaching Awards at the University of the Sunshine Coast and UCD respectively. 

Tara is Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education and Quality) and is Chair of Academic Senate and the Higher Education Learning and Teaching Committee at Swinburne University of Technology.
