This unit introduces students to understanding, evaluating and implementing effective risk management. Students will be equipped with knowledge and skills to make informed decisions relating to organisational risk. This Unit uses a structured approach and involves students learning coordinated activities to enable them to recognise, manage, direct or control organisational risk. In this unit students will learn about risk management which involves introduction and approaches to risk management, risk assessment, risk response, risk strategy, risk culture, risk governance, risk assurance and specific management of various risk situations. This unit of study also focusses on risks that may arise in the workplace and at enterprise level.
After successfully completing this unit, students will be able to:
2. Explain and apply various approaches to risk management and identify appropriate alternatives
3. Develop and articulate a range of risk assessments, responses and strategies appropriate to different types of organisations
4. Assess and evaluate risk culture within an organisation, and be able to recommend appropriate communication and training strategies associated with organisational risk
5. Assess and evaluate risk in relation to compliance relating specifically to governance and assurance issues

Face to Face Mode:
Scheduled hours: Lectures (12 x 2 hours), Tutorials (12 x 1 hour)

Other Student workload: Other activities including independent study and assessment tasks for a total of approximately 150 hours
Engaging with online content and discussions
For all teaching and learning structures (both face to face and online), students are expected to spend an average of 150 hours per unit in total over the duration of the study period
- Scheduled teaching and learning events and activities (contact hours timetabled in a face-to-face teaching space) and scheduled online learning events (contact hours scheduled in an online teaching space), and
- Non-scheduled learning events and activities (including directed online learning activities, assessments, independent study, student group meetings, and research)
To be successful, students should:
- Read all prescribed materials and/or view videos in preparation for each class
- Attend and engage in all scheduled classes (face to face or online)
- Start assessment tasks well ahead of the due date, and submit assessments promptly
- Read / listen to all feedback carefully, and consider it for future assessment
- Engage with fellow students and teaching staff (don’t hesitate to ask questions)
