International Sustainability Project
Overview
This unit offers students an opportunity to engage with peers in the completion of a project targeting an issue of societal of importance to the local community in which students will be located whilst serving the off-shore component. Students can expect to apply their academic learning in this real-world project and to critically explore the relevance of this learning within the socio-cultural environment in which they are immersed. The unit focuses on the development of embedded disciplinary understanding and will result in the advancement of a suite of skills including: teamwork, leadership, advanced communication, problem solving and global social responsibility.

Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
- Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for own learning and personal effectiveness as a global citizen
- Work with others to analyse, generate and transmit solutions to unpredictable and sometimes complex problems
- Manifest advanced communication skills to present a clear, coherent and independent exposition of community engagement in their field of study
- Evidence cognitive skills to review critically, analyse, consolidate and synthesise knowledge about active engagement in relation to issues of local and global concerns in their fields
- Demonstrate intercultural awareness and communication

Hurdle
As the minimum requirements of assessment to pass a unit and meet all ULOs to a minimum standard, an undergraduate student must have achieved:
