Aims and objectives

This unit aims to give students practical experience in the application and design of the software-based tools of Industry 4.0. These include product lifecycle management, computer-aided design, network communications and digital twinning. 
 
Unit Learning Outcomes (ULO)
On successful completion of this unit students will be able to:
 
1. Analyze the flows of data required throughout a manufacturing or production process using the frameworks of Industry 4.0 (A2, A4, K3)
2. Evaluate the software platforms of Industry 4.0, including CAD, PLM, and digital twinning for suitability for application to a given process (A4, K4, S4)
3. Select and apply the relevant software platforms to create a model of a given process (K2, K4, S1, S3)
4. Design a complete software pipeline for the analysis, control and optimization of a given process (A6, A7, S1, S2, S3, S4)
