Prerequisites
AVT10005 Private Pilot Licence TheoryAims and objectives
To provide students with the required aviation theoretical knowledge in the areas of Human Factors, Aerodynamics, Aircraft General Knowledge and Meteorology for the Commercial Pilot Licence (Aeroplane) as detailed in the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Part 61 Manual of Standards (MOS).
Unit Learning Outcomes (ULO)
On successful completion of this unit students will be able to:
1. Explain the engineering, aerodynamic, environmental and human factors that affect flying operations at the Commercial Pilot Level
2. Safely and accurately apply theoretical knowledge to flying operations at the Commercial Pilot Level
3. Demonstrate an understanding of the unit content sufficient to pass the CASA Commercial Pilot Licence (Aeroplane) Theory Examinations for Human Factors, Aerodynamics, Aircraft General Knowledge and Meteorology

Content
This unit of study satisfies the theoretical knowledge requirements specified in the CASA Part 61 MOS for four of the seven subjects required for the award of a Commercial Pilot Licence (Aeroplane) by CASA. It consists of the following areas of aviation theoretical knowledge:
- Human Factors (including Threat & Error Management);
- Aerodynamics;
- Aircraft General Knowledge;
- Meteorology;
- Global Navigation Satellite Systems.
Study resources
- Reading materials.
Reading materials
A list of reading materials and/or required texts will be made available in the Unit Outline.
