This unit aims to provide students with a broad overview of theories relating to international business operations in the global economy. The unit enables an understanding and appreciation of international business, economic and trade dynamics that impact upon Australian business. Consideration is given to the effect of the shifting global business context, particularly the emergence and consequences of regionalism to international business operations.

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Outline the fundamental concepts of international business operations
  • Identify how different global and regional trade groups and institutions facilitate controls for the conduct of international business
  • Analyse the challenges and opportunities encountered by global firms when competing in the global economy
  • Discuss in groups the common issue affecting international firms with a view to generating innovative and culturally sensitive solutions
