Overview
This unit of study exposes students to high-level lectures in the areas of current relevant research within the area of study and provides students with skills required for undertaking a postgraduate research program.

Hurdle
As the minimum requirements of assessment to pass a unit and meet all ULOs to a minimum standard, an undergraduate student must have achieved:
an aggregate mark for the unit of 50% or more.

The content of the lectures will change as the research focus changes within the Department and School. The list of topics may include (but not limited to):
- Occupational Health and Safety
- Statistics, Electron Microscopy
- Synchrotron and Atomic Force Microscopy/Scanning Probe Microscopy
- Graduate Attribute – Communication Skills: Communicating using different media
- Graduate Attribute – Digital Literacies: Information literacy
