Events and celebrations
At Swinburne we host many cultural events to celebrate the diversity of our community. Read more about some of the events that we recognise each year.
World Kitchen Day
An opportunity for our migrant student communities to share their traditional dishes. Students also share stories of how these foods connect to their home countries.
Lunar New Year
The Lunar New Year is a centuries old tradition that is a time for renewal and to engage in the hope for a good future. Each year, Swinburne celebrates the new year with activities such as an on-campus lion dance and a celebratory dinner function with external stakeholders.
Each year we celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights, with a fun, loud and colourful event on campus. Staff and students come to experience Bollywood performances and lessons, fashion parades and food from all over India.
During Ramadan, we hold a special Iftar event to recognise the role that the Swinburne Islamic Society plays in Swinburne’s commitment to religious tolerance.
Sorry, there are no upcoming events for this area at the moment, please check back again soon. You can check out other events happening at Swinburne:
