Cultural Diversity Week video transcript

At Swinburne, we're proud of our diverse community.

We recognise the strength that diversity creates.

Our staff and students come from more than 100 countries across the world.

At Swinburne, we encourage a global exchange of ideas.

Our students, teachers and researchers come together across borders

to learn from each other and create social and economic impact.

We are proud of initiatives that support diversity in our community.

Swinburne was the first university in Australia to appoint a Director of Multicultural Engagement.

We were the first Australian university to launch a cultural diversity charter - a university-wide approach for integrating cultural diversity into everyday university life.

Our Welcome Scholarships, which support refugees access higher education.

We were highly commended in the Business Category at the 2017 Victoria' Multicultural Awards for Excellence.

In 2017, five documentary films produced by Swinburne students and graduates were shown at the Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC) Film Festival.

The films were shown at Federation Square as part of Cultural Diversity Week.

They celebrated the theme 'Same, same but different: Is there more that unites us than divide us?'

In 2018, Swinburne is continuing its partnership with the Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC) to run the Multicultural Film Festival held at ACMI in May.

Swinburne is honoured to be sponsoring Cultural Diversity Week 2018 and celebrating the message of being #ProudToBelong.
