Welcome to Research in the Faculty of Life and Social Sciences!
Research within our Faculty is organised into four research centres and four research groups of staff and students with similar areas of expertise and research interest. These research centres and groups bring staff and students together to exchange knowledge and develop new projects in the areas of Biotechnology and Life Sciences, Neurosciences and Psychology, and Humanities and Social Science.

Our Tier One Research Centres:
Brain Sciences Institute
conducts research in the areas of cognitive neuroscience, psychopharmacology, clinical psychology, and psychological assessment.Institute for Social Research
conducts research which advances our understanding of the social world.

Environment and Biotechnology Centre
conducts research in both environmental science and biotechnology. -
Swin-PSYCHE
Swinburne Psychological Clinical Health and Evaluation (Swin-PsyCHE) is a research unit that incorporates staff from Swinburne Psychology and encompasses a wide-ranging skills base including clinical, counselling, health, and developmental psychologists, methodologists, and program evaluators.

is an interdisciplinary and multi-faculty grouping of Swinburne's biotechnology, bioengineering and biomedical science researchers. -
Complex Processes Research Group
strives to advance cross-disciplinary research into complex processes -
eTherapy Unit
The eTherapy unit are leaders in the development, evaluation and delivery of internet-based treatment programs. -
SABRI
Swinburne Autism Bio-Research Initiative (SABRI) is a response to the urgent need for quality research to be conducted into the biological bases of Autism. -
Sensory Neuroscience Laboratory
undertakes research into a variety of sensory-related aspects of physiological performance. -
Social Psychology Research Unit (SPRU)
This unit conducts basic and applied research using the theories and methods of social psychology to examine Australians' views on issues involving health, science, technology, organisational behaviour, and the environment.
