Normative narrative practice (Seminar Series on Ageing)

In this presentation Mark will share his experiences and discuss learnings from the 8 years of the Swinburne Wellbeing Clinic for Older Adults outreach program into residential aged care. Mark Silver is a social worker well experienced in aged care and disability who has been exploring narrative and life story approaches to engaging with older clients and families. His interest in intergenerational work and video has also informed his practice. Presented on Friday 16 March 2018.

Psychologists in Aged Care Settings (Seminar Series on Ageing)

This presentation provides a snapshot of the types of clients, issues and strategies encountered on a daily basis in aged care inpatient and outpatient contexts. Dr Hemelatha Jayaram is the Clinical Academic Psychologist at Aged Persons Mental Health at Peter James Centre, Eastern Health. Her acute mental health unit is the largest in Victoria for individuals over 65 years. She provides assessments and treatment services to a wide spectrum of patients including those with behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia. She is also in private practice at the St Vincent’s Clinic for Older Adults. Presented on Friday 13 April 2018.
