Swinburne Housing
Swinburne University has been a leader in research and teaching in housing and urban studies in Australia since the foundation of the former Centre for Urban and Social Research in 1974. The ISR's Sustainable Cities program continues this tradition. It has a national - and emerging international - reputation for research, teaching, consultancy and electronic information networking in housing and urban studies.
Research
The Sustainable Cities program carries out research in areas such as social housing, private rental markets, sustainable urban development, and the interaction of housing with other aspects of social policy. The ISR is part of the Swinburne-Monash Research Centre of the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute ( AHURI ).
Consultancy
Staff in the program undertake consultancies for national, state and local governments and for other organisations with an interest in housing and urban development. This is either commissioned research or work obtained through competitive tender.
