Prof Jun Han leads a team of CS3 researchers who are exploring how, through ‘talking’ to road infrastructure and other vehicles, and via wireless connections to the internet, cars can be fed real-time information about road and traffic conditions.

arrowNew LNCS Transactions on Computational Collective Intelligence

November 2009
In cooperation with Springer, CS3 has established a new LNCS Transactions on Computational Collective Intelligence. This new journal focuses on research in applications of the computer-based methods of Computational Collective Intelligence (CCI) and their applications in a wide range of fields such as semantic web, social networks and multi-agent systems.

arrowARC LP Grant "Large-Scale Emulation for Enterprise Software Systems"

Congratulations to Prof Jun Han, Prof John Grundy and Dr Lars Grunske for their success in being awarded an ARC LP grant for the project "Large-Scale Emulation for Enterprise Software Systems" to commence in 2010 with the total funding from ARC of $470k. The project is in collaboration with Computer Associates.

ARC LP Grant Awarded

May 2009
Congratulations to Prof Y Yang, Prof C Liu and Dr J Chen of CS3 for being awarded a new ARC Linkage Project (LP) grant for a project "Novel cloud computing based on workflow technology for managing large numbers of process instances", in collaboration with Prof R Kotagiri and Dr H Wang, and Shandong Dareway Software Co, Ltd. This is the 2nd largest ARC LP in IT nation-wide in this round (among 10 awarded) and the only one in the information systems area. More Information

Congratulations to CS3 PhD student, Mr Qiang He, for winning the 2008 Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Students Abroad. Qiang is a joint HUST-Swinburne PhD student under the supervision of Prof Yun Yang (CS3) and Prof Hai Jin (HUST), and is one recipient amongst the total of 19 from Australia. More Information

arrowNew Grants from Auto CRC

September 2008
Through a competitive selection process, CS3 has been awarded two research scholarship grants by the AutoCRC for research into context-aware vehicles and analysis of programmable automotive electronic systems. Congratulations to Prof Jun Han, Dr Minh Hong Tran, Dr Alan Colman and Dr Lars Grunske for this success. This is in addition to two existing scholarship grants and two large research projects, awarded to CS3 researchers earlier by the AutoCRC.

arrowSuccessful Launch of Smart Services CRC

July 2008
The Smart Services CRC has officially been launched by Senator, The Honourable Kim Carr, Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science & Research. Smart Services CRC is a research and development partnership between 12 major industry players and six Australian universities, including Swinburne's CS3, funded by the private sector and governments under the Australian Government’s Cooperative Research Centre program in excess of $120m over 7 years.

The Centre for Complex Software Systems and Services (CS3) has been established as a university tier-1 research centre in the Faculty of ICT. It has its root in the former Centre for Information Technology Research, which was also a tier-1 university research centre established in December 2005.
