Order of Australia Association Foundation Scholarship 2023

The Order of Australia Association Foundation is supporting the next generation of leaders by helping promising young Australians to achieve their potential. Each year the Foundation sponsors scholarships to young Australian students in their early years of tertiary study.

The Foundation is providing a scholarship valued at $40,000 and the opportunity of an ongoing mentor relationship with a member of The Order of Australia who is eminent in the awardee’s chosen field of study.

This prestigious scholarship is open to high-achieving students in their second year of an undergraduate degree in selected Swinburne University Business, Accounting and Information Technology courses.

The following single or double undergraduate degrees offered by Swinburne University of Technology:

  • Bachelor of Business Information Technology (Professional) 
  • Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology 
  • Bachelor of Accounting/ Bachelor of Applied Innovation 
  • Bachelor of Business/ Bachelor of Applied Innovation 
  • Bachelor of Business Analytics and Analysis/ Bachelor of Applied Innovation 
  • Bachelor of Business Analytics and Analysis/ Bachelor of Business 
  • Bachelor of Business Analytics and Analysis/ Bachelor of Cyber Security 

Eligibility / selection criteria

To be eligible for The Order of Australia Association Foundation Scholarship, applicants must:

  1. Meet the following criteria:
    • an Australian citizen
  2. Meet the following enrolment criteria​​​​:
    • be a continuing second year Swinburne student in 2023
    • enrolled full-time in an eligible course (see courses eligible in section above)
    • studying on-campus
  3. Provide an academic transcript of study to date. Preference will be given to high-achieving students.
     
  4. Submit a personal statement (500 words) addressing the following points:
    • a passion for a career in the chosen field of study
    • demonstrated involvement in the community (supported by certificates/letters of participation)
    • demonstrated leadership attributes
    • how this scholarship would assist you to achieve your goals
  5. Provide evidence of economic disadvantage, for example financial hardship or low-socio economic status. Evidence can include, but is not limited to:
    • Centrelink statement or payslips
  6. A written reference from a teacher/ lecturer/ community leader or employer regarding leadership skills and/or community involvement activities.

Value

The Scholarship has two complementary components:

  • A scholarship of $40,000, paid in equal tranches over two years, which is tailored to the Awardee’s individual needs to cover expenses such as tuition fees, accommodation and other expenses
  • the opportunity of an ongoing mentor relationship with a member of The Order of Australia who is eminent in the awardee’s chosen field of study.

There is one scholarship available to be awarded.

Presentation ceremony - The Scholarship awardee will be required to participate in the Scholarship presentation ceremony at the Annual Conference of the Order of Australia Association in Perth in 2024. The Award presentation will be made by the Governor-General. Travel and accommodation will be provided for the awardee and 2 family members to attend the ceremony.
