Aims and objectives

Advanced CAD/CAM involves the use of various computer aided design and computer aided manufacturing technologies to design and manufacture engineering products with increased productivity, accuracy and reduced lead time. This unit aims to provide students with an understanding of advanced technologies and tools, which play a significant role in design and manufacturing of engineering components

Unit Learning Outcomes (ULO)
On successful completion of this unit students will be able to:
 
1. Apply advanced aspects of enabling computer aided technologies in design and manufacturing (K3, S1, S3, S4, A2)
2. Generate a degree of competency in the development and application of modern CAD/CAM system (K3, S1, S3)
3. Appreciate new knowledge on advances in modern techniques of 3D printing and rapid tooling (K3, S3, S4)
